Chartis Grows Dreams in District 14

It was a perfect way to spend a beautiful sunny Wednesday afternoon, out on a soccer field cheering on your favourite school soccer team. Chartis Insurance in partnership with Dreamfields brought together six primary schools from District 14 in Soweto to participate in a round-robin tournament – three boys’ teams and three girls’ teams.

The teams opened their stunning new DreamBags with loads of joy and they could hardly contain their excitement when they noticed their soccer boots. This gave the players the tools to have fun doing what they love the most – playing soccer.

Chartis volunteers participated with great enthusiasm as coaches, team managers, referees and scorekeepers. “The expression on the faces of the kids when they received their soccer kits was priceless. We are eternally grateful to Dreamfields for giving us this opportunity to make such a meaningful difference in the lives of these kids.” says Brett Field, regional marketing manager for Chartis.

Eventually two winners – one boys and one girl’s team – were declared. All the players received a medal, a soccer ball and then sat on the grass to enjoy a hearty meal. “We are looking to grow in all markets in South Africa,” Brett said, “and this gave us a great opportunity to show the community that we care about their children.”
