Dreamfields works with the Italtile and Ceramic Foundation in 110 schools across nine communities - Thohoyandou in Limpopo; Manyeleti, Green Valley and Cottondale in Mpumalanga; Hammanskraal, Meadowlands, Kagiso and Sebokeng in Gauteng; and KwaMbonambi in Kwazulu-Natal. We have been growing dreams together since 2016.
Scatec Solar has been working with Dreamfields in the Northern Cape since 2015. Our partnership has focused on both schools and adult clubs. We operate in the towns of Keurtjiekloof, Petrusville, Philipstown and Hanover. There are seven primaries in the programme and three high schools, and Scatec also supports 46 football clubs and 16 netball teams
The Ponahalo De Beers Trust supports a range of community and youth projects in the Alldays and Rasekgale areas of Limpopo. Dreamfields joined hands with the Trust in 2016 and we now work in 35 schools running football and netball DreamLeagues. We employ 36 community coaches to run the DreamLeagues and we are also piloting an athletics programme.
The Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation is the newest member of the Dreamfields family. The Foundation's generous support has allowed us to grow dreams through sport in another 54 schools - 18 in the Setlagole area of North West, 18 in Bisho in the Eastern Cape and another 18 in George and Mossel Bay. We plan to hire 54 community coaches to support these schools.
Football Academy Noah (FAN) is an inspiring example of a family turning tragic loss into a vehicle of hope. Noah Mortier, a young Belgian boy with a love for football and fairness, was killed in a hit-and-run accident. His family created FAN in his memory and together we have brought football dreams to 60 schools in the KwaMsane and Mtubatuba areas of KZN.
Philipp Lahm, the captain of the German team that won the World Cup in 2014, had a glittering career on the field. And for many years he has been determined to make a big difference off it. In 2009, the Philipp Lahm Foundation built a field near Kagiso and created the Shongi Football Club. The work has since expanded to include eight primary schools nearby.
The uMkhanyakude district in the north of KZN is one of the poorest in the country and learners have little opportunity to play sport. That changed when the Make An Immediate Difference Foundation (MAID) stepped in to fill some gaps. MAID supports football and netball leagues in 84 schools in rural communities including Jozini, Ingwavuma, Sambane, Emanyiseni and Lebombo.
The Sanlam Foundation invests in school sport as part of a wider commitment to raising the levels of education in South Africa. Our partnership in the Free State town of Kroonstad has benefited 16 primary schools and more than 6 000 learners have signed up to play DreamLeague football and netball. We have also created opportunities for eight coaches.
